Tristel RA is an automated water purification system designed to be connected to an Endoscope Washer Disinfector (EWD). With a streamlined design, Tristel RA can be plumbed into a mains water in-line wherever required.

Ensuring endoscopes are rinsed with water of appropriate quality after disinfection is a key part of the decontamination procedure. Rinse water must be free from microorganisms to ensure devices are not re-contaminated. Tristel RA doses low levels of chlorine dioxide into the incoming water supply used for rinsing to stop the re-contamination of endoscopes.

Description

Tristel RA combines Reverse Osmosis, filtration and low doses of chlorine dioxide for bacteria-free rinse water every time.

Chemistry

Tristel RA utilises Tristel’s proprietary chlorine dioxide chemistry which is widely regarded as one of the most effective disinfectants for biofilm removal and prevention.

Tristel RA doses low levels of Tristel’s proprietary chlorine dioxide chemistry into the incoming water supply used during an EWD’s decontamination cycle. This powerful biocide is generated by mixing Tristel Base Solution (citric acid) and Tristel Activator Solution (sodium chlorite) at point of use.

Chlorine dioxide does not form hazardous by-products or halogenated compounds.

Due to the way chlorine dioxide breaks down and destroys microorganisms, resistance cannot develop over time. Find out more about the mode of action of chlorine dioxide here.

Efficacy

Biofilm that builds up in plumbing systems can cause pipes to become narrow and eventually break off. Biofilm can then end up in the water used in Reverse Osmosis or filtration, leading to re-contamination of endoscopes and the EWD.

Chlorine dioxide is proven effective against fast and slow growing bacteria that are often found in water systems.

Compatibility

Chlorine dioxide as dosed by Tristel RA does not cause damage to endoscopes due to the low concentration used.

The low doses of chlorine dioxide are highly compatible with other chemistries, so do not affect the chemical composition and efficacy of detergents and disinfectants commonly used in EWDs.

Regulatory

Tristel RA complies with relevant sections within local guidelines for rinse water including HTM 01:06, EN 15883, AAMI TIR:34:2014, and ASNZ 4187.

Tristel RA conforms to the Medical Device Directive and is CE marked as a Class I Medical Device.

Product Options

Tristel RA Series 2 combines filtration with chlorine dioxide dosing to treat the mains water in-line to prevent biofilm formation.

Tristel RA Series 3 has the benefits of Series 2, with the addition of a Reverse Osmosis system and a storage tank capacity of 50 litres.

Tristel RA Series 3+ has the benefits of Series 3, with an increased storage tank capacity of 85 litres, making it ideal for when larger volumes of treated rinse water are required.

After-sales Support

With Tristel RA there are a range of service and testing packages to suit your needs, including two service visits per year. All servicing is carried out by T.E.S.T approved engineers.
