Tristel Rinse Assure (RA)

Tristel RA is an automated water purification system that combines Reverse Osmosis, filtration and low doses of chlorine dioxide for bacteria-free rinse water every time.

Description

Tristel RA is an automated water purification system that combines Reverse Osmosis, filtration and low doses of chlorine dioxide for bacteria-free rinse water every time.

Tristel RA is an automated water purification system designed to be connected to an Endoscope Washer Disinfector (EWD). With a streamlined design, Tristel RA can be plumbed into a mains water in-line wherever required.

Ensuring endoscopes are rinsed with water of appropriate quality after disinfection is a key part of the decontamination procedure. Rinse water must be free from microorganisms to ensure devices are not re-contaminated. Tristel RA doses low levels of chlorine dioxide into the incoming water supply used for rinsing to stop the re-contamination of endoscopes.

Efficacy

Chlorine dioxide is proven effective against fast and slow growing bacteria that are often found in water systems.

The effectiveness of Tristel RA was evaluated by Nelson Laboratories under Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) test conditions.

Tristel RA was challenged with a high bioburden (>106 CFU/mL) consisting of Mycobacterium terrae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa as outlined in the EN ISO 15883 standard. Organisms were injected directly into the tank of Tristel RA, bypassing the 5μm filter and RO system situated prior to the tank, therefore representing a worst-case contamination scenario.

Tristel RA achieved a >6.62 log reduction for M. terrae and a ~6.61 log reduction for P. aeruginosa (Pace, 2017).

Applications

Tristel RA features an integrated track and trace system which enables the operator to constantly monitor the process via the Operator Interface Touch Screen. It shows the current status of Tristel RA with diagrams and live data. Handling of alarms, logging data, reviewing bottle levels and setting dosing parameters are a few of the actions that can be performed, all under the security of a unique password; only trained staff can operate Tristel RA. The Touch Screen can either be mounted onto Tristel RA or placed in a central unit where the system can be managed via a Bluetooth connection.

Tristel RA incorporates an Auto Shutdown feature. It detects when there is a problem with the water being supplied, shuts down the washer disinfector immediately and gives the operator a fault analysis via the Operator Interface Touch Screen.

Tristel RA is serviced by Tristel approved engineers. There are various options of service and testing packages, including two service visits per year.

Product Options

Tristel RA Series 2 combines filtration with chlorine dioxide dosing to treat the mains water in-line to prevent biofilm formation.

Tristel RA Series 3 has the benefits of Series 2, with the addition of a Reverse Osmosis system and a storage tank capacity of 50 litres.

Tristel RA Series 3+ has the benefits of Series 3, with an increased storage tank capacity of 85 litres, making it ideal for when larger volumes of treated rinse water are required.

Compatibility

Chlorine dioxide as dosed by Tristel RA does not cause damage to endoscopes due to the low concentration used.

The low doses of chlorine dioxide are highly compatible with other chemistries, so do not affect the chemical composition and efficacy of detergents and disinfectants commonly used in EWDs.

Chemistry

Tristel RA utilises Tristel’s proprietary chlorine dioxide chemistry which is widely regarded as one of the most effective disinfectants for biofilm removal and prevention.

Tristel RA doses low levels of Tristel’s proprietary chlorine dioxide chemistry into the incoming water supply used during an EWD’s decontamination cycle. This powerful biocide is generated by mixing Tristel Base Solution (citric acid) and Tristel Activator Solution (sodium chlorite) at point of use.

Chlorine dioxide does not form hazardous by-products or halogenated compounds.

Due to the way chlorine dioxide breaks down and destroys microorganisms, resistance cannot develop over time. Find out more about the mode of action of chlorine dioxide here.

Regulatory

Tristel RA complies with relevant sections within local guidelines for rinse water including HTM 01:06EN 15883AAMI TIR:34:2014, and ASNZ 4187.

Tristel RA conforms to the Medical Device Directive and is CE marked as a Class I Medical Device.

After-Sales Support

With Tristel RA there are a range of service and testing packages to suit your needs, including two service visits per year. All servicing is carried out by Tristel approved engineers.

Other support materials include User Guides and Safety Data Sheets, which can be found within the Resources section.
