Stella System

With a high-level disinfection cycle of five minutes, or when cleaning is included a total cycle time of ten minutes, the Stella System enables medical devices to be reprocessed quickly. This short reprocessing time allows facilities to operate with fewer devices, reducing costs and increasing patient throughput.

Tristel Clean for Stella removes soil and bioburden and Tristel Fuse for Stella destroys microorganisms of concern. To protect single-lumened devices, the Stella System monitors and adjusts the pressure of the Tristel chemistry passing through the lumen.

The Stella System is a small, lightweight unit measuring between 70cm and 82cm wide, 48cm long, and 18cm high. When empty the weight is 5.5kg. The base and lid can be stacked and the system packed away for transportation, providing a feasible option when space is limited.

Description

Combining the simplicity of manual disinfection with a semi-automated washer disinfector, the Stella System offers quick, mobile, and economic reprocessing of single-lumened and non-lumened, heat-sensitive medical devices.

Applications

Use the Stella System for the cleaning and high-level disinfection of single-lumened and non-lumened, heat-sensitive medical devices including:

Single-lumened:

  • Cystoscopes
  • Bronchoscopes
  • Hysteroscopes
  • Anal manometry catheters
  • Transrectal ultrasound probes

Non-lumened:

  • Nasendoscopes
  • Transoesophageal echocardiogram probes (TOE/TEE)
  • Transvaginal ultrasound probes
  • Transrectal ultrasound probes
  • Laryngoscopes
  • Intubation endoscopes
  • Oesophageal manometry catheters

Compatibility

Tristel Fuse for Stella has been tested and proven to be compatible with major medical device manufacturers including BK Medical, Canon, Hitachi, Karl Storz, Philips and Unisensor.

Traceability

At the end of the high-level disinfection cycle, the Stella System automatically generates a validation code which can be recorded in the Stella Quality Audit Trail Record book.

For digital traceability, Stella IQ stores the validation code for secure download via the Stella Suite software. The Stella Suite software is constantly being updated to improve user experience. Chemistry

The Stella System uses Tristel Clean for Stella, a non-enzymatic detergent, to remove soil and bioburden from medical devices during the cleaning cycle.

For the high-level disinfection cycle, the Stella System utilises Tristel Fuse for Stella, a chlorine dioxide burstable sachet for the high-level disinfection of medical devices.

Tristel Fuse for Stella sachets are designed with two separate compartments, one containing 50ml of Tristel Base Solution (citric acid) and one containing 50ml of Tristel Activator Solution (sodium chlorite). Upon bursting the sachet, chlorine dioxide is generated.

The Health and Safety profile of chlorine dioxide is superior to that of sodium hypochlorite, peracetic acid and glutaraldehyde, providing clinicians with a safer way to reprocess devices.

Due to the way chlorine dioxide breaks down and destroys microorganisms, resistance cannot develop over time. Find out more about the mode of action of chlorine dioxide here.

Efficacy

Tristel Fuse for Stella is a high-level disinfectant and is proven effective against a wide range of microorganisms in five minutes, including:

  • SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19)
  • Bacillus subtilis
  • Clostridium sporogenes
  • Mycobacteria causing Tuberculosis (TB)
  • Adenovirus
  • Poliovirus
  • Klebsiella pneumoniae
  • Herpes Simplex Virus type 1
  • Murine norovirus
  • Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium
  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Regulatory

The Stella System and Tristel Fuse for Stella conform to the Medical Device Directive and are CE marked as Class IIb Medical Devices.

Tristel Clean for Stella conforms to the Medical Device Directive and is CE marked as a Class I Medical Device.

Tristel Fuse for Stella has been extensively tested to the latest European Norm requirements for medical devices and is compliant to EN 14885:2018.

Product Options

Stella System A is ideal for non-lumened medical devices, providing high-level disinfection in five minutes. Stella IQ provides a validation code at the end of each cycle for traceability purposes.

Stella System B provides high-level disinfection for single-lumened and non-lumened medical devices, with the added feature of Stella Pulse. Through a peristaltic pump, Stella Pulse automatically adjusts the pressure to dislodge any debris within lumens whilst protecting devices from overpressure.

With a chlorine dioxide detection feature, Stella System B can confirm when chlorine dioxide has been added. Once detected, the system will proceed with the disinfection cycle. If no chlorine dioxide is detected, a fail notification will be sent, and the solution will be drained automatically.

Stella System C provides cleaning and high-level disinfection for single-lumened and non-lumened, heat-sensitive medical devices.

With a Tristel chemistry detection feature, Stella System C can confirm when cleaning solution and chlorine dioxide has been added. Once detected, the system will proceed with the cycle. If no cleaning solution or chlorine dioxide is detected, a fail notification will be sent, and the solution will be drained automatically.

Each bottle of Tristel Clean for Stella contains 40 doses to complete 40 cleaning cycles.

Each box of Tristel Fuse for Stella contains 40 sachets to complete 40 high-level disinfection cycles.
