Bacteri\u00eble endosporen behoren tot de meest resistente vormen van micro-organismen, en hun aanwezigheid in ziekenhuisomgevingen vormt een aanzienlijk infectierisico.<sup>1,2<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dit risico kan verminderd worden door effectieve decontaminatieprocedures toe te passen, die gebruik maken van gevalideerde en betrouwbare <a href=\"https:\/\/tristel.com\/nl-nl\/products\/\">sporicide desinfectiemiddelen<\/a>.<sup>3<\/sup> Maar, hoe kan worden vastgesteld of een desinfectiemiddel daadwerkelijk sporicide is?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-hoe-worden-sporicide-normen-in-europa-gereguleerd\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-purple-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-7880a9c23bb81fb0128f7858bed0e7b1\">Hoe worden sporicide normen in Europa gereguleerd?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De <strong>EN 14885<\/strong> norm beschrijft in detail het kader en de verplichte testnormen waaraan een desinfectiemiddel moet voldoen om een antimicrobi\u00eble werking te mogen claimen. Volgens deze norm moet elk desinfectiemiddel dat een <strong>sporicide<\/strong> werking claimt minstens voldoen aan twee specifieke testen: <sup>4<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>EN 17126 (Fase 2, Stap 1)<\/strong>: Dit is een kwantitatieve suspensietest die aantoont dat het desinfectiemiddel effectief is tegen sporen. Deze test is een essenti\u00eble voorwaarde voor elke sporicide claim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sinds <strong>mei 2025<\/strong> is er, specifiek voor producten die via reinigingsdoekjes worden toegepast, een bijkomende praktijktest verplicht voor sporicide claims:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>EN 17846 (Fase 2, Stap 2)<\/strong>: Dit is een kwantitatieve viervelden oppervlaktetest. Deze test toont aan dat het desinfectiemiddel zijn sporicide werking behoudt wanneer het onder realistische gebruiksomstandigheden op een besmet oppervlak wordt aangebracht.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Voor producten die via reinigingsdoekjes worden aangebracht, zijn zowel <strong>EN 17126<\/strong> en <strong>EN 17846<\/strong> vereist om een <strong>sporicide werking<\/strong> te mogen claimen.<sup>4,5<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-niet-alle-chemieen-zijn-sporicide\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-purple-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-655146023407cbae76d41c78b7d391aa\">Niet alle chemie\u00ebn zijn sporicide<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Het is algemeen erkend en aangetoond dat oxiderende stoffen een sporicide werking kunnen hebben, wat niet geldt voor andere typen desinfectiemiddelen.<sup>6<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Quaternaire amoniumverbindingen (QACs)<\/strong> worden vaak gebruikt vanwege hun lage kostprijs en hun bactericide, fungicide en virucide eigenschappen tegen omhulde virussen. <strong>Ze zijn echter niet in staat om sporen te doden<\/strong>.<sup>7<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Met betrekking tot QACs stelt het <strong>CDC (Centers for Desease Control &amp; Prevention)<\/strong> uit de UK het volgende:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cZe zijn niet sporicide en doorgaans ook niet tuberculocide noch virocide tegen hydrofiele (niet-omhulde of \u2018naakte\u2019) virussen.<sup>8<\/sup>\u201d \u2013 Chemical Disinfectants&nbsp;| Infection Contorl | CDC<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dit wordt verklaard door hun werkingsmechanisme: QACs verstoren de membranen van micro-organismen. Sporen beschikken echter niet over actieve membranen en worden beschermd door een uiterst resistente laag, die hen ongevoelig maakt voor het belangrijkste werkingsmechanismen van QACs.<sup>9<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hoewel sommige studies wijzen op <strong>sporostatische<\/strong> effecten (het remmen van kieming), komt dit niet overeen met een echte <strong>sporicide<\/strong> werking \u2013 namelijk het vermogen om de sporen zelf te vernietigen.<sup>7<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-wat-betekent-dit-in-de-praktijk\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-purple-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-4d532d18c517ae44990c2b932d39e249\">Wat betekent dit in de praktijk?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sporicide claims die uitsluitend gebaseerd zijn op de <strong>EN 17846<\/strong> norm, zonder bewijs volgens <strong>EN 17126<\/strong>, zijn onvolledig en potentieel misleidend. Een oppervlaktetest alleen, zoals EN 17846, volstaat niet om een echte sporicide werking te claimen, zeker niet omdat variabele omstandigheden de effectiviteit van het product kunnen be\u00efnvloeden.<sup>4,10<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Het gaat niet alleen om het slagen voor de testen, maar vooral om het waarborgen van de veiligheid van de pati\u00ebnt, door een correct toepassing van de wetenschap en de geldende regelgeving. De geclaimde prestaties van een desinfectiemiddel moeten altijd gebaseerd zijn op grondig onderzoek en gestandaardiseerde testmethoden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-wat-moet-u-onthouden\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-purple-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-6c056ee6256a23e9ceed492c6c1c71b5\">Wat moet u onthouden?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sporicide claims moeten worden onderbouwd zowel met de <strong>EN 17126<\/strong> norm als <strong>EN 17846<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>QACs<\/strong> zijn niet sporcide, volgens de <strong>CDC<\/strong> en wetenschappelijk onderzoek.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wees kritisch voor gedeeltelijke claims
