Due to where endocavity ultrasound probes are used, they risk transmitting pathogens that are associated with sexually transmitted infections (STIs) to patients and healthcare symptoms associated with HSV, or very mild symptoms that are frequently dismissed as other skin yearly<sup>1<\/sup>.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0 The foetus can be infected with Chlamydia during childbirth<sup>5<\/sup>.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0 Is able to survive on surfaces for up to 30 hours<sup>6<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<h4><em>Gardnerella vaginalis<\/em>\u00a0and Bacterial vaginosis (BV)<\/h4>\n<\/td>\n<td><\/td>\n<td><img loading=\"lazy\" affect up to 70% of women of reproductive age<sup>7<\/sup>.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0<em>G. vaginalis<\/em>\u00a0symptoms are usually asymptomatic unless BV occurs, where the most common symptom includes vaginal discharge with a \u201cfishy\u201d odour<sup>7<\/sup>.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0 Factors that may influence the development of BV include: frequent baths, douching, multiple sex partners and increased frequency of sexual intercourse<sup>7<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<h4><em>Mycoplasma genitalium<\/em><\/h4>\n<\/td>\n<td><\/td>\n<td><img loading=\"lazy\" pre-term birth<sup>8<\/sup>.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0 Testing for\u00a0<em>M. genitalium<\/em>\u00a0infection can be difficult and time consuming, due to its slow growing nature<sup>9<\/sup>. Isolation and culture is impractical when immediate treatment is needed<sup>9<\/sup>.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0 Infections are often asymptomatic.
