It is recognised by the World Health Organization as an emerging high\u2011consequence pathogen, capable of causing severe respiratory disease, encephalitis (inflammation of the brain), and rapid\u2011onset outbreaks with high fatality rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-purple-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-80f56b50fc895e94d186835ab9294901\" id=\"h-where-is-nipah-virus-found\">Where Is Nipah Virus Found?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Nipah virus is naturally carried by fruit bats (of the <em>Pteropodidae Family<\/em>), which act as the primary reservoir.
